PRECISION

(Collectables-0684)

King Richard and The Knights, one of the many American bands in the early '60s that was influenced by the Ventures, scored it big regionally in 1964 when the group released "Precision" on Red Feather Records. This rock guitar instrumental with classical piano accompaniments set the all time record for the most time at the number one spot for an original song by a local group on KQEO Radio. KQEO ruled the airways in Albuquerque in the '60s and maintained an incredible market share of 51 during that decade. In 1965, The Knights, in an attempt to compete with the fantasy games of the Beatles and other new age British rock, released six vocals on the Delta label, two of which have become very desirable by modern day '60s collectors. Those are "How About Now" and "I Don't Need You." All of The Knights' '60s 45-rpm releases are featured re-issues on this CD along with songs by six other leading Albuquerque rock groups of that time.

SONGS ON THIS CD: (Instrumentals) - Precision - Cut Out - Lonely By The Sea - Moon Beam - ; (vocals) - I Don't Need You - How About Now - Those Things You Do - That's The Way It Goes - Why - I Want To Love You - ; . . . (other Albuquerque '60s artists) The Plague: - Go Away - ; Era of Sound: - Girl in the Miniskirt - ; The Kreeg: - Impressin'- ; The Sidewinders: - Tears From Laughing - Charlie Aikens - ; The Saliens: - Travel Lightly - Baby Says - . . . (King Richard's sons reproduced two of the instrumentals on this tape in the late '80s and they have been added to this CD as a bonus) Jason Scott Stewart: - The Calm and The Storm - (redo of "Lonely By The Sea") and Richard Todd Stewart: - Moon Beam - (redone as a vocal).
